Best Teacher Essay I was the kind of child that always struggled to pay attention in school. I never wanted to be in class, except to visit with my friends. At times I wanted to drop out of school. I always felt like school was a big waste of time. Until I met a teacher named Mrs. Meyers at Kent Mountain View Academy. Mrs. Meyers is a teacher that is the most influential person in the world, (but the world doesnââ¬â¢t know it yet), I really admire her because she always encouraged me to go to class and treat other teachers and students with respect, and to try my best. If I ever needed any extra help in homework; she was there, it didnââ¬â¢t matter which subject it was. She always told me that I was very smart and to never to doubt myself. Mrs. Meyers is easy to talk to, I could just tell her anything because sheââ¬â¢s very honest and talks to me (or anyone for that matter) openly about anything in life. She was always ready to listen to me when I was feeling down. With her comfort and warm words I always felt better and important. When I needed some advice, she was there for me. She is my friend, my mentor and like a mother. Mrs. Meyers has a great passion and love to teach children. She has so much patience to sit down with them and explain the work to them. She never makes the school work boring; she always made it fun and exciting and easier to learn. She always did it with a smile on her face, even when she wasnââ¬â¢t feeling well. If I had one hour to spend with Mrs. Meyers, I would ask her what influenced her passion for teaching children, how did her life experiences influence her to be a teacher, and many other questions relatable to that. I would ask these questions because sheââ¬â¢s a great person, and who doesnââ¬â¢t want to know about a great person? I hope one day I could feel that same passion, care and love that she has of teaching and helping children like the way she help me. She completely changed my life around and made me a different person the one I am today. Mrs. Meyers was the one person who influenced me the most and to whom I am very thankful because she gave me the inspiration to become a teacher or at least strive to do my best at whatever job I choose. I am very glad that I met her and I think that without her I would never do as well as I do in school. Or in life for that matter.

Probity, Resilience, and Conscientiousness in Medical Career
Probity, Resilience, and Conscientiousness in Medical Career Research suggests that the attitudes and behaviours that medical students show, or develop atà Medical school, are reasonable predictors of behaviour later in their professional careers. Bearing this in mind, explain the following concepts and outline what relevance they have to youà as a medical student and as a future doctor: Probity, Resilience, and Conscientiousness. The population often have a set of traits in mind when it comes to defining the ideal doctor. [1] The GMC have also defined what is expected of doctors in their publication ââ¬Å"Good medical practiceâ⬠. [2] In this essay I will explain the concepts of Probity, Resilience and Conscientiousness to allow me to launch into how they are relevant to me as a medical student and a future doctor. Probity is defined by the GMC as being ââ¬Å"honest, trustworthy and acting with integrityâ⬠. [3] The importance of Probity is echoed internationally as the National University of Singapore conducted a study, the results of which showed that doctors regarded being honest and trustworthy as the two most important characteristics of medical practitioners. [4] Medical students must demonstrate probity in a variety of ways but I believe a medical studentââ¬â¢s probity will most likely be shown by producing original academic work, not plagiarising and flagging up any concerns regarding their clinical work [3] since these, in my opinion, are some of the pits where some students will most likely fall. I personally believe I demonstrated probity during my community based medicine placement when a patient, in a one on one interview, asked me to give him medical advice, which I was in no position to do and so I told him to speak to his doctor about it along with letting him know that Iââ¬â¢m not a doctor, but a medical student. A lack of probity in this case will have resulted in the patient receiving advice that might have harmed them regardless of any good intention behind it. Moreover, plagiarism was flagged up by an article where the BMJ suggest that research might show that students donââ¬â¢t have a complete understanding about referencing properly. [5] While this lack of understanding might not mean that the student is dishonest, the aforementioned article highlighted that 56% of students had already or would consider copying text and only listing it as a reference which is clearly plagiarism and so a show of dishonesty. This is relevant to me because research has shown that doctors who have been sanctioned by governmental bodies were three times more likely to have been unprofessional as a medical student than control students. [6] A show of probity is, as such, important from day one in medical school. An example of a situation where a doctorââ¬â ¢s lack of probity caused preventable consequences to a member of the public in addition to likely tarnishing the professionââ¬â¢s reputation in the public eye is the striking case of Doctor Derek Keilloh who maintained a dishonest account of his treatment of an inmate. [7]Another case was that of Dr Holloway who claimed pay for sick leave while pursuing a career in sports commentary. [8] In my opinion, the latter case ties in with and verifies the GMCââ¬â¢s earlier guidance on how students must be honest when working with allocated funds. [2] These two cases demonstrate to me how important it is to show and develop probity as a medical student and maintain it throughout my career or the consequences on patients and staff at the work place can be dire. Conscientiousness is defined as ââ¬Å"wishing to do oneââ¬â¢s work or duty well and thoroughlyâ⬠[9]. Patient interviews highlighted that being ââ¬Å"thorough and persistentâ⬠[1] was a trait the ideal doctor possessed. This was echoed by Sister Donna Keenan, Northern Irelandââ¬â¢s nurse of the year 2010. [10] Not performing oneââ¬â¢s duty thoroughly is not a new issue amongst the medical profession: A newspaper article from 1952 summarised the case of a surgeon who had left forceps inside a patient causing unnecessary suffering. [14] Looking more recently, the notorious case of the Mid-Staffordshire scandal [11] can be used, in my opinion, to demonstrate a lack of conscientiousness on the part of the guilty staff involved. I think the rise in mortality rates was likely preventable if the staff involved had demonstrated thorough care to their patients. It could also be argued that the lack of whistleblowing in this case was yet another show of medical staff not p erforming their duty persistently and thoroughly since whistleblowing is part of a doctorââ¬â¢s duty, even as a medical student. [3, 11] I believe even the smallest show of conscientiousness can improve a patientââ¬â¢s experience such as when I relayed a patientââ¬â¢s complain regarding his bed-side television malfunctioning to my supervisor during voluntary work: The following week, the patient said that my ââ¬Å"persistenceâ⬠had allowed him to occupy himself and hence take his mind off his illness to relieve himself. The importance of this trait was highlighted in my mind even further upon reviewing the case of Jesica Santillan who received organs of the wrong blood type, resulting in her death. [12] This case also shows me that such careless practice can impact others as well the patient involved: In Jesicaââ¬â¢s case, the organs could have saved another life but they went to waste. Reflecting on all three cases, it is clear that itââ¬â¢s critical for medica l students to develop a sense of conscientiousness if they are to become effective doctors or if they are to, in fact, even pass their examinations in medical school. However, it is worth taking note that research suggests conscientiousness (as measured by the conscientiousness index-CI) did not differ significantly between the first and second years of medical school and so showing it is a trait unaffected by ââ¬Å"teaching and clinical exposureâ⬠. [13] This is relevant to me as a student because I believe it highlights that simply going through the first year of medical school will not be sufficient to develop a sense of conscientiousness; while some students might already have a strong sense of conscientiousness, those who donââ¬â¢t will need to seek/be offered support as it is an important characteristic. [13] Resilience is defined as ââ¬Å"the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughnessâ⬠. [15] A report commissioned for the GMC highlighted that a significant proportion of medical students continue to suffer from mental health issues: it was described as endemic. [16] This is backed up by Swedish research showing that depressive symptoms were much more prevalent amongst medical students than the general population, at 12.9%. [17] A more shocking statistic is that, in the same study, 2.7% of students had attempted suicide. [17] The fact that this study was conducted in Sweden demonstrates that stress and depression associated with medical school is widespread around the globe and it would be wise to devise ways to deal with it. Another issue regarding the stress we face, as medical students, is that we often dismiss our deteriorating health as a normal part of life as a medical student. [18] To complicate things further, the stress we face can stem from a variety of reaso ns from performing mediocrely in an exam when we have always been at the top of our peer group to traumatic experiences related to clinical attachments such as patient death. [18, 22] I believe this variety makes the stress much more difficult to deal with. In the light of said stress, it is clear that being resilient will allow students to deal much better with their day to day life as a medical student and future doctor. [19] Not only is this important for the student/doctor themselves, it is also critical as it affects the quality of treatment the patient receives. [20] Students can burnout and this can be modelled conceptually where the ââ¬Å"coping reserveâ⬠is positively and negatively affected by several factors which will either lead to burnout or a more resilient individual. [21] As a result, it is clear that devising mechanisms and ways of raising oneââ¬â¢s morale and knowing when to seek support is very important in developing the resilience needed. Personally, I ââ¬â¢ve found that speaking to my colleagues and being able to relate to them very stress relieving alongside with phoning my close family to seek advice and generally vent out my concerns. However, I think the main component of my resilience is my active involvement in the sport of boxing which keeps me physically healthy, allows me to de-stress regularly and induces a sense of achievement within me to allow me to focus on my medical life so I can deal with the copious demands of studying Medicine. [23] In conclusion, Probity, Conscientiousness and Resilience are essential qualities medical students and doctors must develop. Probity allows patients to place their trust in the doctors and ensure itââ¬â¢s not abused while allowing the practitioners themselves to feel satisfied with their honest work. Being persistent and thorough with oneââ¬â¢s practice will ensure any set tasks/treatment plans are done to an adequate standard. Finally, resilience will ensure that the individual can cope with the demands and challenges posed while still being able to give their best to the tasks at hand and their patients. Consequently, it is vital all three qualities amongst other qualities not covered in this essay are developed throughout oneââ¬â¢s professional life. The common question is what kind of restaurant you want it to be, it means you want to make your restaurant become how. Own a restaurant also needs to think about what type of food that need sell, this is the point that to attract customer and can bring in more income. Other than that, you also need to set your own restaurant either greasy spoon or five stars restaurant. Answer of Question 1 A restaurant the preparation, service of food and beverages to customers in exchange for money, whether it is to pay before meals, after meals, or running tab. Meals service premises eat, but many restaurants also offer takeout and room service restaurant has changed dramatically, and the appearance of products, including a variety of the chefs cuisine and service models. What kind would it be? I would like own a Western Restaurant, there are reasons that I want to own a Western Restaurant because I more prefer the Western food and it was a five restaurant. I would like to choose a place where nearby the city center, shopping complex, and also working place and it will be many people to presence the restaurant. My own restaurant must have two floors because when during busy hour, lunch time and also dinner it is very difficult to accommodate so many customers, so that a restaurant should be better have two floors to serve customers. My restaurant should be built in WIFI; it may also help the customers to have their fun with their phone while waiting for their food. I would like to make my restaurant, when a places quiet then can let customers feel comfortable and enjoy when they having their food at the restaurant. The color of the restaurant must be green, because of green can let the customer feel nature and recycle. Besides that, I will like to put in a television to let customers enjoy when they are having their food. Waiter of the restaurant should be wear formal, when a waiter serve the customer nicely and with a formal attire then will let the customer feel satisfy. In fact, I prefer my restaurant be quiet, comfortable, nature and with a good services. When have this few thing it sure will help the restaurant bring in more income because most of the customer also like a restaurant who can let feel comfortable when they are having the food. What type of food? I prefer my restaurant to produce Western food and it is all about noodles. For an example, chicken chop, lamb chop, fish chips, salads and also spaghetti. This is a few types of food that attracts more youngsters and teenager to have their meal and this type will be easily attracting the customers to eat. Menu I would like to invite a professional chef to manage my restaurant. I want all customers to my restaurant to eat as long as my restaurant western food. The main menu of my restaurant is Western food. My restaurant is to promote the lunch as low as RM10. The package includes a small dish, chicken steak, lamb chops, fish, seal (only for a set), desert and drinks. The price is reasonable, so it will attract customers, such as adolescents and young adults. In addition, my dining market target young people and teenagers. Conclusion of Question 1 In conclusion, want to own a restaurant need to have a good plan to go. If want to own a restaurant with do not have a good plan then it will make you difficult to bear a restaurant. Nowadays, a five stars restaurant not the most famous in our country because a five stars restaurant food price will be higher and let customer difficult to afford. Otherwise, a greasy spoon restaurant can let the customer easy to afford because the price of food wont be higher and it suitable for all those customer to have their food in my restaurant. So, when you want to own a restaurant, you need to analyze the marketing and should do research. It will be easier to own a restaurant. In our country, it will be many type of food that you can see and it has diversity and multi-cultural. In Malaysia, the Malays have the most population, Indians is the smallest population and Chinese population is the most average. Moon Cake Festival Moon Cake Festival is one of the festivals of Chinese. It is a popular Chinese people celebrate the harvest festival. This moon cake festival which means family members will be enjoy at outside the house and have many varieties of moon cake feast, grapefruit bright full moon. Family members will eat their moon cake with enjoy the full moon and will until midnight. Some of the children will play lantern and holding it walk around the house. Most of the people say it will be beautiful night and the brightest night of the year. This moon cake festival has many legends about it and then it appears a moon cake. This festival is the worship of the moon and the full moon, the moon cake is considered an indispensable delicacies. Celebrate the moon cake festival, having a moon cake with friend or family gatherings. Eat a moon cake mean will bring you and your family relationship become well, it a lso will bring you a good luck for a whole year. Another meaning is wont easily argue with parents and also with friend have a good relationship. Dragon Boat Festival Dragon Boat Festival is another festival for Chinese but it was not so popular than Chinese New Year and Moon Cake Festival. The highlight of this day is the dragon boat races, competing groups, rowers rowing boat rapid pulse pounding drums. This food was very delicious and then when you have eaten the dumpling that mean you have grown a year older. Conclusion of Question 2 Few things that we cant do during Chinese New Year are, cannot wear a black shirt, sweep the floor and also break things. About wear a black shirt, it means when you wear a black shirt at Chinese New Year then it will bring you bad luck and it will be not good a year. Sweep the floor, when Chinese New Year you sweep the floor mean you sweep all those money to outside and it make cannot growth for a whole year. The last thing is break things, if you break a thing for an example cup, then it mean that was an unlucky started for a new year and it maybe let you cannot be work with smooth for a year. So, different type of race it will have different type of festival and food. Like some of the festival that what food you need to eat, what thing that you cannot do and it will be many meaning for those traditional.

A Cuban Reading of Psalm 137 There are two Cubas. On the Island are revolutionaries crusading to construct a Cuba that combats any attempt to subjugate her spirit to the US hegemony. On the (main)land are the modernists who look toward the United States as the guide and hope for revitalizing a Post-Castro Cuba. Consequently, the Cuban community is divided into two antagonistic camps: Resident Cubans living under Castro's Marxist regime, and Exilic Cubans living under a global capitalist system. Due to these political and economic differences, we Cubans are a people divided against ourselves. This division creates a unique space in how we read the Bible differently than the rest of Latin America or other U.S. Hispanic groups. Theologians operating from a liberationalist perspective focus on Exodus as a source of hope for their existential situation. The story of a God who hears the cries of the oppressed and personally leads them toward liberation is a powerful motif. However, Exodus is not the rubric from which we Exilic Cubans read the scriptures. It is the second exodus, narrating the Babylonian Captivity, that resonates within our very being. In la sagà ¼esera (Southwest Miami), on Calle Ocho (Eighth Street), is a restaurant called Versailles, dubbed El palacio de los Espejos (The mirrored palace). What makes this restaurant unique are the mirrored walls. Sitting at the table in the crowded salon, I constantly see myself reflected on one of many heavily-gilded mirrors. As we Exilic Cubans look in the mirrors surrounding us, we are in fact searching for our ontological origin. Not so much what we are, but what we see ourselves as being. Versailles serves as a vivid illustration to Lacan's theory of the Mirror Stage. Lacan, the postmodern psychoanalyst, maintains that while I look at myself in the mirror, I assume that what I see is a reflection of a self ─ a secondary reflection faithful (more or less) to the likeness of an existing original self. Lacan would propose the opposite, that the image in the mirror is what constructs the self. My encounter with the mirror literally reverses the direction, and serves the function of forming my "I.

The Electric Light Orchestra à à à à à The biggest compliment a band can get is to have another singer write a song about how much they like them, as Randy Newman did in 1979 about ELO with the release of ââ¬Å"ââ¬ËThe Story of a Rock and Roll Band.â⬠In the song he said, ââ¬Å"I love their ââ¬Å"Mr. Blue Skyâ⬠Almost my favorite is ââ¬Å"Turn to Stoneâ⬠And how ââ¬Ëbout ââ¬Å"Telephone Lineâ⬠? I love that ELOââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Wild 5) à à à à à The band created in 1971 by Jeff Lynne, Roy Wood, and Bev Bevan used cellos and violins to create a classical sound. Although Roy Wood left shortly after their first record was released. The idea came about when Jeff Lynne said to Roy Wood, ââ¬Å"ââ¬ËWhat if we had a band with strings- real strings?ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Wild 9) They were in The Move at the time and decided to create a band on the side. They called this experimental band The Electric Light Orchestra. ââ¬Å"Of the groups name Lynne remembers, ââ¬ËAt the time people thought ââ¬ËELOââ¬â¢ was pretty bad. It was like ââ¬ËThe Electric Light what?ââ¬â¢ The name was as wacky as the idea really.ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Wild 9) à à à à à à à à à à Jeff Lynn was one of the most important members of the band. He was born on December 30, 1947 in Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Lynne was interested in music while he was still in school. When he was fifteen years his father got him a guitar. Though it was made of plastic and had only one string he practiced it all the time. (Petersdorff 3) Jeff was a big Beatles fan. ââ¬Å"Lynne is asked if he now admits to being a Beatles fan. ââ¬ËI confess,ââ¬â¢ Lynne says with a laugh. ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢m dead guilty of being a Beatles fan.ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Wild 10) à à à à à Another founding member of the band was Bev Bevan. He was born Beverly Bevan in Birmingham, U.K. on November 25, 1945. He formed his first professional band, called Denny Lain and the Diplomats, in 1963.He retired from music to become a furniture salesman, but then joined Carl Wayne and the Vikings. He then later joined The Move and helped create ELO. (Petersdorff 4) à à à à à The third important member of ELO was Richard Tandy. Tandy was born on March 26, 1948 in Birmingham, U.K. At Moseley Grammar School he had been taught to play bass and guitar. Tandyââ¬â¢s first gig was at Solihull Civic Hall when he was fifteen. He was in many different bands before joining ELO.

Short Story Esay – on the Side Walk Bleeding
A short story in which a material object becomes important is ââ¬Å"On the Side walk Bleedingâ⬠by Evan Hunter. With reference to the text I will identify the object and explain it's significance. In the opening paragraph the author gives a detailed description of a jacket which is worn by the victim of an attack. ââ¬Å"The boy's name was Andy, the name was delicately scripted in black thread on the front of the jacket, just over the heart. On the back of the jacket it has the slogan ââ¬ËTHE ROYALS'â⬠this is the gang he is associated with. The Royals' are rivals to The Guardians. Being a Royal lead to Andyââ¬â¢s death. When he goes out for a pack of cigarettes he is violently assaulted by a member of The Guardians. The gang member said, with volume, ââ¬Å"That's for you Royal! â⬠. This tone insinuates that he had a vendetta with the gang as he emphasises the word ââ¬ËRoyal'. If Andy wasn't wearing the Royal's jacket he wouldn't have been attacked. As the s tory progresses there are two young love birds strolling down the pavement. They duck into the ally where Andy lay after he'd been attacked. They didn't realise that Andy was only a few feet away. Freddie, one of the couple, saw Andy and knelt down beside him, that was when he had seen the jacket and said ââ¬Å"He's a Royal. â⬠The couple are afraid to help him in case The Guardians attack them. This further reveals the significance of the jacket; a material object which caused him to be targeted and is stopping people from helping him. When Laura, Andy's girlfriend, goes searching for him she find him in the ally, dead. He was found 58 minutes after he had been stabbed but before he bleed to death he mustered up all his strength to try and take his dreaded jacket off in the hope that someone would attempt to help him. The jacket meant fear to any one and everyone if he had managed to take it off before, he would have been saved but he didn't do it earlier. ââ¬ËA Royal, huh? were the first words the police officer said when he had found the jacket only a foot away from his cold body. Laura tried to tell him that his name was ââ¬ËAndy' but the officer only saw a Royal and nothing else. The jacket was a label and his identity was lost whilst he wore it. The significance of a material object in the text is important because it symbolises his dedication to the gang. This not only resulted in him being targeted; it made people afraid to help him and ultimately because of the jacket, he was left to die. Jamie Blair

Boredom â⬠What Can Teens Do About It Essay
I have heard it time and again ââ¬Å"I am bored! ââ¬Å". These words have came from the mouths of many teenagers. Sure, we have the libraries, the parks, the internet cafes, the malls all around us. Yet, we still hear many teenagers around us saying that they long for something completely different than the aforementioned ââ¬â something that caters more to their interests. So what can we do for these bored teenagers? You see, we have all the facilities etc. From bars to reacreational areas, places offering live music, a countless amount of shopping malls. Yet, teenagers are still bored. Thus I think it is crucial to ask the young people would like to do, then officials can plan their activities and build the venues accordingly. If we donââ¬â¢t, we will face the risk of continually seeing teens loitering around at the back alley or even committing crimes. More town meetings and conferences involving teenagers is vital to planning activities that they will enjoy. To simply assume that these adolescents will benefit from certain activities without asking them first will leave the place with empty centers and businesses that alienate many teens. For example, business catering to teen hobbies could be set up to host events for teenagers. Perhaps they could create some kind of contest, that would offer various skatebored equipments and apparel as prizes. The contest could include what many teenagers would enjoy: Music and Food. This way, instead of wasting money to build expensive venues to provide ââ¬Å"entertainmentâ⬠to curb teenagersââ¬â¢ boredom, the money could be spent on setting up activities that can guarantee success as they cater to the wants of the teens through the survey, therefore this could be done for these bored teens. As the world grows, the technology advances and companies like Apple come out with creative new devices like iPhones and iPads. When teens get caught up by these addictive trends of using iPad and iPhone, they would love to access them and use the interesting applications everyday. However, eventually their interest does not last as they would get tired of doing the same thing of staring into the iPhone or iPad screen. Instead of investing time into things that are not of much productivity, and does not help them develop any useful skill, they could first try to be creative and explore their artistic side is really great when they have nothing else to do. They could think of what things in life are really exciting or interesting to them, and think of a way they could incorporate some aspect of those things into their alone time. Once they start doing something creative,they can always go back to it, and they will never be bored. For example, they could take some free time to learn how to play a music instrument, in particular an easier one that you could easily learn by themselves at home which would be a guitar. This would help them develop an appreciation for music of they could learn well and it would bring out the more artistic side of them, instead of wasting time and getting bored from blindly following the trends of using electronic devices. Doing anything creative like learning an instrument will be beneficial to your growth as a person, it will broaden your skills and perspective on life, and it will also be fun. It begins with a recognition that every circumstance, every activity, contains within it the potential to yield value, either to us or to someone else. If we insist on always being passively entertained by life, we will find ourselves bored by much of it. On the other hand, if we can transform that expectation into a determination to make an effort to create value at every moment, we can begin to make even the most mundane experience interesting. For example, we can start up a conversation with a friend and know more about them which would enhance the friendship between the both of them. One minute you will be bored ad the next minute you will be busy talking with your friend to kill time. Talking also makes us forget about the time passing without our realisation. This also allows us to be engaged in something rather than staring into space, doing nothing which would benefit them in one way or another. Talking enhances communication skills and at least, one can bond more with her friends which would make one less bored. Engaged in the conversation, new facts about one another rise up to create a stronger bond between them. This would benefit one rather than doing nothing and feeling bored. Another way could be to eliminate boredom by looking for any interesting or purposeful activity in which you will feel energetic and less bored. A question that one may like to consider would be to think of how the activity will benefit one befoe doing something when one feels bored. Communication would make one more open-minded and an extrovert. In conclusion, there are many ways to escape boredom. But the problem here is that teenagers now do not know how to kill time. If they invest enough time to do something worthwhile such as learning how to play a musical instrument or enhancing their communication skills by conversing with a friend, they will not find themselves getting bored. Teenagers should engage in activities that they know will entertain them. For example, an avid reader can find time to visit the library rather than staying at home and watch television or do something unproductive. Thus, teenagers should know themselves and what they like and take part in activities that interest them. This will solve the problem of teenagers being bored all the time.
